Art for Kids

The Arts Center is pleased to offer a variety of classes for children ages 18 months and up. Read on to find the perfect class for your aspiring artist!

Need-based scholarships are available for many classes. Contact director@communityartscenter.net or 859.236.4054 to request more information. We also offer payment plans, allowing you to spread the cost of registration across a longer period of time. Contact Kate Snyder at kate@communityartscenter.net to set up a payment plan. Bottom line: If your child loves art, we want them in these classes!!

If you have a younger art-lover (not in school yet), check out our Munchkin & Me class!  This FREE weekly drop-in class is perfect for kids 18 months to 4 years, with an adult caregiver.

Get ready to get creative! In this elementary visual arts class, students will be introduced to a range of artistic styles and mediums as learning about famous artists and their work. We’ll be doing different projects each week. Over the course of the semester, students will explore drawing, painting, ceramics, mixed media, collage, and more!

It’s never too soon to set good habits! Saving your pennies is more fun when they’re being kept safe and sound by a whimsical, painted piggy. In this workshop, each artist will get to paint their very own piggy bank. Banks will be fired and ready for pickup within 7 days.

We are organizing this event to coincide with the Boyle County Public Library’s Money Smart Week (April 21 -28)!

Looking for the perfect gift for Mother’s Day? Sign your kiddo up for this paint-your-own pottery workshop. We’ll be personalizing milk jug bud vases. These sweet little vases also make a great teacher appreciation gift! Pieces will be fired in the Arts Center kiln and will be ready for pickup prior to Mother’s Day.

This art-making extravaganza will showcase the talents of dozens of professional and aspiring artists in our community while raising funds to support the Community Arts Center’s arts education programs for children and adults.

From 11am to 4pm on Saturday, May 12th, downtown Danville will be overflowing with artists demonstrating their craft. Painters and potters, quilters and sculptors, dancers and singers, established professionals and aspiring art students will join together for a day of creative art-making. 

Registration is now open for participating artists! We welcome artists in ALL genres – visual arts, music, performing arts, dance, and more – to join us for this event

Celebrate the start of the Great American Brass Band Festival with this mixed-media canvas artwork inspired by the annual balloon race. We’ll paint the sky and trees, then create personalized balloons using foil, ribbon, lace, specialty paper and other fun supplies. Let your imagination soar and create a piece that is uniquely yours. Create your own vibrant ceramic turtle for your garden or living room. This two-week workshop will introduce the basic techniques of hand-building with clay as students create an individualized turtle sculpture (or two, depending on size and the speed with which you work!). Campers will personalize their very own dollhouses – painting the home, adding wallpaper, works of art, furniture, figures, miniature food, and so much more. At the end of camp, you’ll have a wonderfully unique dollhouse to keep and treasure! (Click here for a picture of the dollhouses we’ll be using!) We will also enjoy a field trip to the Great American Dollhouse Museum. This camp is great for girls and boys. 

* Please note that, in addition to the camp registration fee, there is a non-refundable $30 materials fee that covers the cost of your 24″ wooden dollhouse. The materials fee will be paid separately, following registration.
