Art for Kids

The Arts Center is pleased to offer a variety of classes for children ages 18 months and up. Read on to find the perfect class for your aspiring artist!

Need-based scholarships are available for many classes. Contact director@communityartscenter.net or 859.236.4054 to request more information. We also offer payment plans, allowing you to spread the cost of registration across a longer period of time. Contact Kate Snyder at kate@communityartscenter.net to set up a payment plan. Bottom line: If your child loves art, we want them in these classes!!

If you have a younger art-lover (not in school yet), check out our Munchkin & Me class!  This FREE weekly drop-in class is perfect for kids 18 months to 4 years, with an adult caregiver.

Your children are sure to believe in fairies after painting this cute, whimsical design. We’ll be working on a 12″ square canvas, which is the perfect size for young artists. Children ages 8+ may paint unaccompanied. Younger painters should bring a supportive adult.

Grab your sleeping bag and get ready for a fun-filled sleepover at the Community Arts Center! We’ll enjoy art-making activities, go on an art scavenger hunt, explore the galleries by flashlight, and watch a movie. If you child has attended a previous sleepover, fear not. Each Night at the Museum event will feature different activities, movie, etc. Registration fee includes an evening snack and light breakfast Saturday morning.

Get ready to get creative! In this elementary visual arts class, students will be introduced to a range of artistic styles and mediums as learning about famous artists and their work. Sign up for one four-week session or join us for the entire twelve-week semester. We’ll be doing different projects each week. Over the course of the semester, students will explore drawing, painting, ceramics, mixed media, collage, and more!

The projects in this camp are ideal for 15” to 18” baby dolls. We’ll create basic clothing and accessories, along with other visual arts projects inspired by friendship.

Campers will personalize their very own dollhouses – painting the home, adding wallpaper, works of art, furniture, figures, miniature food, and so much more. At the end of camp, you’ll have a wonderfully unique dollhouse to keep and treasure! We will also enjoy a field trip to the Great American Dollhouse Museum. This camp is great for girls and boys. 
 
Your registration fee includes a non-refundable $30 materials fee that covers the cost of your 24″ wooden dollhouse.
