Teen Art Board

If you’re interested in art as a career, hobby, or means of self-expression, the Teen Art Board series is for you!  Learn new skills, develop a personal portfolio, and connect with working artists who will help you reach your goals.  Teens who participate throughout the year and meet the minimum standards will be selected to participate in the Student Showcase at the Community Art Center in May.

WHO:              Any high schooler (14-17) living in and/or attending school in Boyle County

TO Participate:   Attend any meeting.  There is no cost to participate.

Time:             4-7 p.m.


Sep 12                  Drawing I – Intro, contour, based on shapes and forms, still life, adding value

Sep 19                  Drawing II – Figure (clothed), gestures, timed, focus on composition and detail

Oct 10                  Painting in Plein Air – Painting on site, landscape drawing (TBA)

Oct 17                   Abstract Painting – Composition building, unorthodox abstract techniques

Oct (TBA)            Photo Walk – Snapshots, subject selection, mood, positive/negative space (TBA)

Nov 14                  Sculpture I – Self-portrait head sculpture using paper clay

Nov 21                  Sculpture II – Metal casting (trip to UK)

Nov (TBA)          Group participation in Danville/Boyle Co. Arts Commission Gallery Hop (Downtown)

Dec 12                 Pottery I – Wheel throwing, clay

Dec 19                 Pottery II – Decoration techniques

Dec (TBA)          Prepare works for New Year New Art exhibition
