Historically Bold Building Tour

For over 100 years, the grand building on the corner of 4th and Main has served as a community gathering place and a source of great civic pride. It was occupied in three primary phases: as the town post office from 1911 through 1961, then as a federal building until the mid 1990s, and finally its current use as the Community Arts Center.

Through its incarnations, generations of Danville residents and visitors have vivid memories of this building’s role in their community – and their personal lives. The Arts Center’s newly-launched “Historically Bold Building Tour” provides a tour not just of the building itself, but of its stories and its memories.

The 25-minute self-guided audio tour combines narration about the building’s history and architecture with first-person stories from long-time Danville residents. If you’d like to take the tour, just check out an iPad and set of headphones at the front desk!

The Historically Bold Building Tour is FREE thanks to the support of the Danville/Boyle County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Boyle Landmark Trust. We are also grateful to the City of Danville for entrusting us with the care and use of this beautiful building.
