Introduce a new generation to this charming Southern tradition. During the six-week course, students will learn the basic steps to a variety of classic dances, including waltz, foxtrot, quick step, basic swing, and rumba. Each evening will also have a focus on etiquette in social situations and on how to be good hosts and hostesses. The final week will be a social event, with parents invited to join in the fun and see what their children have learned.

This class is offered in partnership with our friends at Danville Dance Company under the instruction of owner and director Whitney Thomas. Please register children by gender so we can keep an eye on the gender balance for this class.

Register here for boys.
Register here for girls.

*Note: this class does NOT meet on March 1 and 8.

Attire is “dress casual.” No evening wear or cocktail dresses, but “Sunday best” is appropriate. Girls should wear dress blouses with skirt or dresses, knee-length or longer. Dress shoes or heels that are comfortable to dance in are a must. A cocktail style dress should be worn the final week. Boys should wear dress shirt (button up) with tie and dress slacks and shoes. Jackets are optional but will be required the final week.
