The Kentucky Historical Society is conducting a statewide Listening Tour in conjunction with Kentucky’s 225th anniversary of statehood. Stuart Sanders, History Advocate with the Kentucky Historical Society, will facilitate a conversation with LWTA guests centered on “What Makes Kentucky, Kentucky?” The purpose is to hear how people throughout the state think about Kentucky, both the things they are proud of and the things that they see as challenges. Stuart will also share insights gathered from previous listening sessions throughout the year.

As the former executive director of the Perryville Battlefield Preservation Association, Stuart worked for nearly 10 years to preserve and interpret Kentucky’s largest Civil War battleground before coming to KHS, first to oversee community field services and now as History Advocate.  Stuart brings his experiences as a preservationist, interpreter, outreach specialist, author of three books and speaker to his current duties, communicating the relevance, value and significance of Kentucky’s history. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.
