Recycled quilts…and recycled poems?!  Join us for this fun lunchtime lecture that explores the ways in which artists use re-purpose materials to create new and beautiful things.

A published scholar in Classics, Jane Joyce, retired Luellen Professor of Literature at Centre College, has written three collections of poems. During this special LWTA event, Jane will talk about her inspiration for writing The Quilt Poems and some of the research she did for the project.

Barbara Hall is retired Stoghill Professor of Music at Centre College where she led the choral activities and taught interdisciplinary courses in humanities. She founded Danville Sings and currently conducts 3 choirs in that organization. Barbara will read several of Jane’s poems.

In the second half of the program, artists from the 2nd Look Quilt Challenge will share some of the stories behind their pieces in the show, all of which feature recycled materials.
