Maurice Manning is a Danville native and a nationally-recognized poet. His first collection of poems, Lawrence Booth’s Book of Visions, was awarded the Yale Younger Poets Award, chosen by W.S. Merwin. Since then he has published four collections of poetry. Manning’s book, The Common Man, was a finalist for the Pulitzer prize. His next book, Railsplitter, will be published in the fall. Manning teaches at Transylvania University and lives with his family in Washington County.
